•The Goal: Generate $2,000/month consistently to cover Rent + Food.
•The Portfolio: A concentrated 'Income Bridge' portfolio of ~$200k - $250k.
•The Benefit: You can quit your high-stress job 10-15 years earlier than standard FIRE.
•The Job: Your part-time job (Barista, Freelance) covers health insurance and fun money. The portfolio covers survival.
The "Bridge" Philosophy
Most people wait until they have $2M to quit. That takes decades. But if your "Survival Number" is only $2,000/month (Rent + Groceries), you only need ~$240,000 invested at a 10% yield.
This is achievable in 5-7 years for many aggressive savers.
Inflation: $2,000 today won't buy $2,000 of goods in 10 years. You must reinvest a portion of your part-time wages into Tier 2 (Dividend Growth) to keep up.
Health Insurance: This is the biggest killer. Ensure your "Barista" job offers coverage, or structure your income to qualify for ACA subsidies (see our Health Insurance Hack article).
